The size of the steel beam you will require will depend primarily on two factors;
1. The length of the steel beam.
2. The weight that the steel beam is required to support.
In a domestic property the steel may be required to support the load from a range of different structural elements, these may include; a flat or sloping (pitched) roof, ceiling joists, non load bearing timber stud partitions, first floor joists and masonry walls.
